Our current membership is 34 and we are a very active and lively group.
We meet to enhance member’s knowledge and success in their efforts to trace their family history or the history of any other individual/family that may be of interest to a member. The more experienced members offer a mentoring/guidance service to the inexperienced members. Meetings are arranged to allow members to report on their successes and failures in research and to seek help in finding out how to break through “brick walls” that are blocking their discoveries. Our intention is to have a topic for each meeting that can be presented by members or talks by external experts. These subjects often raise considerable discussion!
External visits are also organised on an occasional basis to places of interest to family historians. For more information on the group as a whole, please feel free to contact our group leaders.
Our exhibition of Lives and Loss during World War 1 has now ended, We have also completed a project concerning Voluntary Aid workers in WW1 and most of us have given talks on our own maternal and paternal grandparents.
We look forward to more in-house and external speakers in the coming months.
The current proposed schedule is given below.
