Some of the cycling group fuelling up with coffee in Dolgellau at the beginning of a ride to Barmouth and back.
This is a very friendly group of people who enjoy cycling along the quiet and beautiful country lanes of Shropshire. It is a most enjoyable way of keeping fit.
There are usually about eight to ten on any given ride and three of us now have electric bikes which reduces the steepness of any hills!
There are no prizes for arriving first at the end of the ride, which is usually around 20 miles. We ride at a pace that is suitable for the slowest rider. If anyone likes to go more quickly for a little while, that is fine and we agree to meet them at a given point down the road. Every ride is checked beforehand for suitability in terms of the quality of the road, general terrain and the estimated ride time, which is normally about two, to two and a half hours.
We always start and finish each ride at a pub and arrive in time for lunch – putting on whatever we may have burned off during the ride!
For our safety, we always wear a helmet and high vis jacket.
Most of the rides require bikes to be transported by car to the start-point. If you are interested, we would love to welcome you. Do contact me, Bob Millington, using the link above.
